COACH WOOLLEY MVP AWARD

Coach Woolley pioneered the Sachem Soccer program. He served as Sachem High School's first and only soccer coach from 1956 to 1973. During those years, his teams had winning seasons in all but one of those years, compiling a 154 won, 73 lost, 27 tied record. Upon his retirement from coaching, Mr. Woolley was ranked as one of the top ten winningest coaches in the nation. Highlighting those years were six league championships ? three consecutive, 1966, '67, '68 ? eleven playoff berths, county finalist in 1968, county championship in 1960. Individually, forty-five of Coach Woolley's players were selected to all star teams, one a high school All American, goalkeeper Joe "Tucky" Guszak, two went on to become college All Americans, Ray Fell and Jack McGann, and one went on to become a professional player in the A.S.L. , Steve Schoen.
